Extra: The Earth is NOT flat!

I like conspiracy theories, they make the world more fun! One of my favorites is flat Earth theory! There is so much content and rabbit holes to dive into. For a short 3 days, I was basically a flat Earther, but thankfully I wised up.

I was listening to the flat Earth podcast and YouTube videos about it. I really liked Flat Earth Dave (David Weiss.) I thought he was reasonable and a good example of a flat Earther. Some of the stuff he said made sense. As I got further into the rabbit whole I started seeing holes in the story.

Flat Earthers such as Dave claim gravity DOES NOT exist. So what keeps things from floating away? Well, they say density and buoyancy! But... isn't density entirely based on gravity existing? Literally one of their examples is: "If gravity is strong enough to send boulders hurling into the ground, then how can a small insect fly?" I don't need to even comment on that... It is the logic of an elementary schooler. Actually, no, an elementary student knows about gravity and the basics. They talk about the ice wall and how the sun and moon are in the firmament. Speaking of the firmament, a lot of flat Earth beliefs orientate around the Christian understanding of the world. Most flat Earthers claim that the Bible is a "flat earth book." I did some digging and found and found an entire website listing Bible verses that explain the flat Earth. A lot of the quotes are laughable, do they not understand what a metaphor is? Like the four corners part, c'mon man. So in my opinion, the Bible IS NOT a flat Earth book.

That's a reason I liked Dave, he wasn't a Christian and talked about the "science." The more I found out about Dave revealed the truth of the man. Firstly, in the podcast, he states that he had a career as a sales man. So he is now basically the salesman of flat Earth, he knows basic social engineering and uses it for flat Earth. One of the flat Earthers that he praised was the YouTube channel Jeranism, who was a big flat Earth dude. Later on I learned that Jeran actually quit flat Earth! And Dave's response to was to BLOCK Jeran instead of discussing! That is really telling of the type of person Dave is. I saw a Facebook post in the FE group stating that flat Earthers are calm, respectful, and willing to debate; unlike their Globe Earth counterparts. This isn't really the case though, proven by Dave and other rude flat Earthers.

A really funny note about Dave is that he encouraged STARING AT THE SUN! Yes, staring at the sun! He believes some electromagnetic Earth type thing, and that the sun recharges you..? Not sure... Besides the flat Earth lies, spreading the dangerous misinformation that staring into the sun is healthy is not a good look.

Eric Dubay, oh Lord. Eric Dubay has been called "The Flat Earth Prince." A lot of flat Earthers say that his book "200 proofs the Earth is not a spinning globe" is what converted them. I've never read the book, despite owning a copy, you really don't need to read it. Just watch this Professer Dave video debunking all 200 "proofs." Eric Dubay is also some sort of Buddhist guro? I guess? But yea, he is seen as a respectable flat Earth dude.

Once again, after doing more research, many many holes form in him. He has been proven to lie and deceive his viewers, and just be a general grifter. I think he just wants to be well known, so he attached to the flat Earth idea, and to sell books. He sells his books on Amazon $10 each for a Kindle copy, that is pretty steep.

So... I pirated his books! You can download almost all of his books from ZLibrary, I love that damn site. This is a really justifiable use of pirating things, cause fuck Eric, he doesn't deserve my money. I've only began reading his "Flat Earth Conspiracy" book but so far it's pretty bad. Lots of random photos quoting other flat Earthers. Y'know how quoting someone is supposed to mean something? Like you quote famous or smart people to reinforce a point? Well, quoting a bunch of your buddies defeats the entire point of quoting someone. It means nothing Eric.

Swinging back to Jeranism, his story is pretty interesting. He was a MASSIVE flat Earth YouTuber and very respected, but after The Final Experiment, he QUIT! It is really funny to see that the flat Earther's entire view of him changed overnight. Dave is a good example. I never really watched Jeranism during his flat Earth phase, but I adore his ability to man up and admit he was wrong. That is really noble.

So yea, flat Earth is really shady and stupid. It is common knowledge the Earth is a globe and that space exist, no matter how horrifying it is. I think the entire reason I wanted to believe in flat Earth is because it was fun and something interesting. I usually feel a need to be more unique or interesting, so I latch on to some obscure stuff every-once-and-a-while. For example Raelianism, I have "grown out" of both of those.

One funny thing I want to share to end it off, Flat Earth Dave has began "debating" ChatGPT about flat Earth! It is REALLY FUNNY, literally old man yells at clouds. I just love how he talks to the AI like it's a real person, so funny. Watch this video for a good laugh! Just watch SciManDan in general, he does a lot of flat Earth videos.

Alright, I am tired, I love you (platonically) and goodnight!
