Day 32: Linux love

!!! Prepare for a Linux rant !!!
I think I found my Linux love... Zorin OS!
I have only been testing it out for like 2 hours, but so far it is amazing...
I love the themes, it's based on GNome but has built in themes for other OSs, like Windows and Ubuntu! Since it is GNome, it also supports extensions and is familiar to me. The main reason I switch distros so often is for the different themes and packages, Zorin basically scratches all those itches. Want something Windows like? Or maybe Ubuntu? Or even Mac? Or just standard GNome? Well, you can have it all!
Another super cool thing about Zorin is that it has flatpak and snaps out of the box! I'm kind of a sucker for snaps, I just like Canonical and snaps. In the software center, you can pick a snap version or flatpak (for supported apps.) This is amazing, I don't have to any setup to run snaps! Flatpak and snaps are the only packages I really use, Vivaldi has a snap, Sober is on flatpak, Firedragon is flatpak, so yea, it'll be awesome.
Zorin also supports versions for many years, so the version 17 is supported until 2027. It says on the page you can use Pro forever, don't know if that means eternal updates or just the possibility of using the same old system.
I know some of the features are locked behind the Pro version, but I don't mind. I've donated to Garuda and GNome before, so I don't mind giving money to projects I like.
As for downsides, my only gripe is that it uses apt. I've gotten used to using DNF, but apt and DNF are really similar. Another thing is that you have to buy the Pro version for every major update, so it's kinda like Windows. It only cost $47, unlike Windows that usually cost $120 per license. That's really all I can think of, I'm sure I'll find more as I use it more, maybe a follow-up post?
As for general updates, nothing has happened. It's the weekend, and payday is next week, so am excited for that. I haven't done much writing, well, story wise at least. My main focus at the moment is Man's Wish, but a lot of the book is brutal killing and deep monologue on Alex's philosophy, and I haven't been feeling brutal or too deep.
I might write some poetry tonight, nothing too crazy, just some improv. I am thinking about my recent feelings, seeing as how I use poetry as an outlet. I do feel the urge to write, just don't know what to. My yellow notebook, the "ideas" notebook, is just a random thoughts or ideas book. I have written some poetry in there, story outlines, updates, or just rambling. Kind of like this blog!
Whenever I want to write but don't feel productive, I write in that, or force myself to write a short story or poetry. This usually doesn't produce good results, just weird, 4 paragraph, one-off stories. So not much to share with you guys, sorry.
Marbi is being very happy, he even let me pet him a bit! I plan on posting more Marbi stuff on Twitter and Threads, yea, remember Threads? I know a lot of people like the Marbi posts, they get the most traction and comments, I like that!
I want to make more friends off of Twitter, form like a Twitter circle or people to talk to, as if I don't have too many friends already. My Twitter feed is mostly birds, memes, and some furry art. Just the way I like it!
As for my plans for tomorrow, I want to stream! I've livestreamed on Twitch once before, just playing Roblox games, it was fun! I don't really care about viewers or the money, I just want to have fun doing it. So far, I have a small list of streaming ideas:
Video games, the classic
Researching conspiracy theories like Flat Earth
Play around with Linux and virtual machines
Writing or editing videos
Terry Davis like streams, just browsing the internet or really anything
Right now, the plan for tomorrow is a Linux exploration stream, I downloaded a bunch of ISOs I want to explore, might change plans though.
As for today, I think that is it. Expect an update when I get paid, and maybe a follow-up for Zorin! Cya!
